About Us
Born from experience. Built for preparedness.
Our Mission
To help Muskoka and Ontario waterfront property owners prepare for wildfire with practical, site-specific systems built around their own water source, backed by the right plan, training and ongoing care.
Protect what you love. Start with the water beside it.
The Founders
Wildfire Emergency Technologies (W.E.T. Defence) began with a simple conversation about helping family, friends and neighbours better protect the properties they love. It grew from a shared belief that, with the right equipment, planning and training, there are practical steps property owners can take before a wildfire threatens their home.
For one of our founders, that mission is deeply personal. Laura grew up in Muskoka, where her family has been for almost 90 years. Over those years, her family has lost two cottages to fires that burned inside for days before anyone knew they were on fire. When lightning struck her family island, a fire broke out, but thanks to neighbours who rushed to help, it was quickly extinguished. These experiences brought home both the devastating consequences and the fear of what can happen when you are not prepared. Today, Laura is a photographer, filmmaker and creative entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience as owner of Creative Good Inc. With her heart deeply rooted in Muskoka and a commitment to environmental stewardship, she leads W.E.T. Defence’s branding and community engagement.
Adam also has deep roots in Muskoka. As a young man, he spent almost 30 years on Lake Rosseau. He brings extensive hands-on experience in contracting, waterfront construction and water management. Through many years of work on residential and shoreline projects, he has developed practical expertise in high-volume water pumping, erosion control, turbidity curtains, filtrate tanks, cofferdams, drainage and dewatering.
This work requires an understanding of how water moves, how pumping systems perform under real-world conditions, and how to solve challenges presented by different properties and terrain. Combined with his building and contracting experience, Adam and his staff understand what it takes to turn a system design into a working installation, from positioning pumps and routing hoses to installing sprinkler systems on roofs and around buildings.
Together, they founded Wildfire Emergency Technologies to help property owners prepare for wildfire emergencies through professionally designed pump and sprinkler systems, tailored to available water sources and site conditions. From property assessments and system design to installation, training and ongoing maintenance, the focus is on practical, site-specific preparedness.
We believe protecting a property starts well before a fire arrives, with the right equipment, a plan that fits the property, and the knowledge to use it. Our systems are designed to support preparedness, not replace emergency services or evacuation guidance.
